Tributes from Colleagues

Thank you for the information Frank. We have lost another of the better
ones, very sad. Lack of transport may prevent me from getting to the
funeral but I will raise a glass.
Brian.

Surely a merciful release in Mike's case.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Mike.

Very sad to hear of Mike's demise. He was a fine engineer and a thorough gentleman.
RIP.
Ian.

Sad to hear about Mike.  I remember interviewing him when he joined Datamation.  He had been working on a line-following truck. Very Sad.

Being of a younger generation, I did not really know Mike Lewis - but did meet him once when he returned to Eastwood House for some consultancy work. I was able to thank him for his "HF Surfacewave Radar Design Guide" which I presume he wrote shortly before retiring. This document was an invaluable reference to me for close on 10 years, and some of the things I learnt I still use to this day. Thank you Mike.
David.

As stated, Mike was a Gentleman and a Scholar.  I knew Mike (not well but well enough) when I worked as a Junior Development Engineer at Great Baddow, where I worked in Julian Ryley's section. Later I transferred to Field Services and my first overseas posting was to Yugoslavia (May 7, 1977 - S600 system, training Yugoslavian military).  Not only was this my first overseas Marconi post but also my first trip outside of the UK. When I arrived in Sarajevo, having changed flights in Zagreb, there was Mike to meet me and I was so very happy to see a known face.  I learned later that in Field Services, if you were expecting someone in country for the first time it was normal for someone who knew you to be there at the airport to meet you, but this was not necessary for Mike, as a Senior Manager at the time, but this shows his humility.  Mike was a good man and I'm sorry to also hear that his memory was failing in his latter years. I definitely cannot make the funeral (long way from California!) but he and his family will be in my prayers.
Geoff.
