Tributes from Colleagues

Very sad to hear about Ben who had been great to work with for many years.
Matty.

Thanks for passing that on Alan. Indeed, very sad.
Brian.

I first encountered Ben as the Baddow back-room boy for the Marker racks on Project Nassau - I particularly remember his cavalier attitude to the release documentation required when the racks were handed over to PCTA. Apparently the waste paper basket wasn't an appropriate filing cabinet, and Frank McGlynn only just recovered from a severe attack of apoplexy.
In fact Ben was always cheerful and full of enthusiasms - he spent years refurbishing an old stone house - which was brought home to me when I did the same.
We remained in contact via Facebook and he was cheerful until the last - I shall miss him.
Ian.

Well that bought a lump to my throat :(
I first met Ben in the days of cigar smoke filled offices in E-Block - how times have changed!
Ben was a fab boss and friend - many long days and nights were spend working with him.  Always fun and never a dull moment.  I too remained in contact via Facebook and I certainly always hoped to see him again.
Without doubt I shall miss him.
Debby.

Really sorry to hear the news about Ben.
Our paths crossed many times over the years both at work, going back to the early 70s, and also at Marconi Sailing Club where we were on various committees and working groups together.
He could always be relied on to come up with a solution to a problem even if it did not always fit with the authorities.
A great character and someone who will be sadly missed.
George.

Very sorry indeed to hear about Ben. I spent some time with him on Project Nassau in South Africa and remember some memorable times in the Devon Hotel bar moaning about "Castle" beer!
Cyril.
