The following note has been received from Elizabeth and Anne Robson:

"Our father, John Robson, was an employee of Marconi Radar Systems between 1967 and 1991. Although he was not a member of the Marconi Veterans Association, he had happy memories of his time at Marconi and enjoyed reading about former colleagues and the history of the company on your website.

We have attached a short obituary notice if you would be interested in posting it on the website."

John Robson 1928 - 2018

We regret to report the death of John Robson on 29 August 2018, aged 90.

John spent 14 years, from 1944 to 1958, in the Royal Navy, where he trained in electronics and worked his way up from Boy 2nd Class to Chief Petty Officer. In the early 1960s, he worked as a team leader for the Radio Corporation of America at Fylingdales radar base on the North Yorkshire Moors.

John moved to Great Baddow in November 1967 to join Marconi Radar Systems as a radar systems designer and latterly as a technical author, before retiring in July 1991.

John leaves four daughters who remember with affection the children’s Christmas parties organised by the Marconi Sports and Social Club.

Tributes from Colleagues

From Gerry B
Sorry to hear that John Robson has passed on, he was a senior author in Technical Information Department of Marconi Radar Systems for many years; a very nice and highly competent person who always had a friendly smile on his face and was held in high regard by our customers, Ministry and others.
I knew him as a colleague and socially, his three daughters were contemporary with my two.
He will be greatly missed by his family to whom I would wish to pass on sincere condolences on behalf of all his ex TID colleagues.

R.I.P.  John

From Rod H
John Robson was one of mine for a number of years. He was not just a good Author, he was a pleasure to work with and have as a colleague. He was someone I could rely on for a bit of support and extra effort when problems arose. He will be missed. Sad news.
