Introduction

Facebook post from Cliff Nicholson via Roger Neve

A sad note for any Marconi Radar staff that ever worked at Bushy Hill test site: Mike Leadbeater, aka Skin, died last week 31st Jan at 1.30 am. His wife, Jenny, informed me today that his funeral is at 3.30, 21st February at Chelmsford Crematorium, open invitation from Jenny. I'm sure Mike would have found some irony in his cremation taking place just over the road from Writtle Road Works … didn't he just love the place. Mike died in hospital where he was undergoing yet another operation for diabetes related problems. Having had 2 heart attacks and substantial surgery for circulation problems in recent years and losing two toes he was having another stent fitted in his leg. The operation had to be halted when his heart started to fail and he ended up in ICU on the machines. This gave him sufficient time to surface and for he and Jenny to say goodbye.
Please pass this on to as many as you can remember.
Goodbye Skin, I am proud to have known you.
Cliff.

I worked with Mike on various projects before he went to Bushy. I think I first met him at the PCTA when it was behind the cantina at Great Baddow. He was definitely a character (as were many in Field Services).
