Sadly, Bob Prior died on 2nd December (2016). Bob had been ill for a couple of years, having an aortic valve replaced, a triple heart bypass, and more recently, a stroke, spending 3 months in intensive care. Just recently he hadn't been so bad, but his heart eventually gave up.

Bob was a lovely person - always ready with a laugh to lighten the most serious of situations. His family will miss him particularly just before Christmas.

Sorry to hear about Bob Prior.
He was a wonderful person.
I greatly enjoyed the time I worked with him.

So sad to hear about Bob.
I first met him in the mid to late 1950's whilst still serving in the RAF as a Radar Supervisor at the St Annes Rotor station (where, incidentally, John Mumford was the Marconi RME). We were a training station with a number of RAAF units attached, one of which was Ballywooden in Northern Ireland, where Bob was stationed as the regular RAF "officer in charge". The RAF flew his mob over about every six weeks for weekend training sessions.
I vividly remember, soon after I was posted to St Annes, being detailed to go to the airport (Squires Gate Blackpool) with transport to collect them, and having great difficulty in reconciling the passenger manifest with the actual bodies on board - a LAC Mullholland was missing.
Fortunately before I could go any further Bob gently took me to one side and pointed to a couple of seats at the back of the aircraft stacked with crates of Guinness!
