GMRDS was formed as the vehicle for the JV with Alenia Difesa. It originally included the Radar, Command and Control, Simulation, Missiles and 'Secure' (I can't remember its name) Divisions. Its MD was David Fletcher (later replaced by Peter Brown) and its HQ was in Chelmsford. Peter Brown was the incumbent when the JV was formed and Ian King became its first Chief Exec. The Missiles bit subsequently went to MBDA and the 'Secure' bit somewhere else.
